What's Your Fantasy?

-The draft for my fantasy football league, Kentucky Football Conference 2007, is one week from today. In case you didn't know, last year I had the most dominating team in the league. I went 12-2 in the regular season before being upset in the championship game, which could only be described as a total fluke. Anyways, the DreamKillers are going straight to the top this year. Here are some of my quick thoughts on fantasy football for this year:

-The fantasy MVP for this year will be a three-way race between Frank Gore, Steven Jackson, and of course LT.

-The surprise fantasy QB this season is going to be the 49er's Alex Smith. He came on strong at the end of last year and the 49ers have made alot of improvements to their offense this off-season.

-Larry Johnson is due for a bad season. After 816 touches the past two seasons, it is inevitable that LJ is going to run out of steam at some point this year. Then again, an off-year for LJ probably still means 1300 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns!

-Avoid drafting any of the Patriot's receivers too high. We all know that they have an all-star receiving corps assembled but Tom Brady spreads the ball around alot in that offense. I wouldn't expect any of thier receivers to have much more than a thousand yards receiving and 6 touchdowns.

On to less-important things . . .

-Madden 08 comes out Monday night at midnight so it's a safe bet that it is going to be hard to get in touch with me for the next month and a half or so. It is going to be tough to adjust to playing without Vick after all these years. It's all good though. I'm gonna make Joey Harrington play like Bo Jackson on Tecmo Bowl.

-I just got Disturbia on HD-DVD. If you didn't get a chance to catch this flick at the theatre, then do yourself a favor and go buy it. It is a really good, suspenseful movie and Shia LaBeouf is excellent in it.

-Just picked up UGK's new cd Underground Kingz. It is a double album with 29 songs all together. I haven't really had a chance to listen to it yet but I will let you know how it is as soon as I give it a good spin.

What A Lucky *^%#!!!

-Take a look at this loser! Apparently, he just randomly decided to check out a Giant's game while he was stopping over in San Francisco on his way to vacation in Austrailia. This outcast in a Mets jersey is the lucky jerk who managed to emerge from the battle royal in the centerfield bleachers with Barry Bonds' record breaking home run ball. He is probably going to get at least half a mil for his good fortune/dumb luck. Just look at the guy's face, what a d-bag! He's probably friends with Kige from Josh's blog. http://joshkeown.blogspot.com/

-No matter what you think about Bonds finally breaking the record, I think everyone has gotta agree that it was a class move by Hank Aaron to congratulate Barry in front of all the fans. Very classy.

-Brady Quinn finally signed with the Browns. I stick by my word, this guy has got draft bust written all over him.

Joey, Joey, Joey

-Word out of Atlanta is that the NFL is going to announce sometime this week that Michael Vick is officially suspended for the entire 2007 season. I honestly don't even know what to say. Everyone that knows me knows that Vick has been my favorite football player ever since he burst onto the scene at Virginia Tech back in 1999. Over the years of watching him I have also grown very attached to the Atlanta Falcons and they will continue to be my favorite team even once Vick inevitably gets cut or traded. I am just really disappointed in Mike. Don't get it twisted, I still believe from the bottom of my heart that he is innocent of the charges he was indicted on. But at the very least, he was associated with the guys who were running the operation and that's pretty bad by itself. I hope that he can fight the charges and bounce back to have a successful second half to his career. I got faith in him.

-Ok, now that we got all the tearjerker Vick stuff out of the way, let's take a look at the Falcons 2007 season. We got Joey Harrington starting at QB now and that might not be as bad as it sounds. According to a Fox Sports column that can be found by following the link at the right, Joey is poised and ready to have his best season ever. He says that he has finally put all of the dissapointment and negativity from his stint in Detroit behind him. I think with Bobby Petrino's high-powered offense and QB-friendly coaching, Joey could have a decent year. At running back, Jerious Norwood is going to have a break out year and will probably take over at starter for Warrick Dunn, sooner rather than later. We all know the Falcons have terrible receivers, but Roddy White started to improve a little at the end of last year. And we did pick up Joe Horn in free agency, which would be pretty good if this were 2003! The defense is still a little soft and undersized but hopefully they will at least be able to keep us in games. In a weak NFC, I still feel like the Falcons can push for a wild card spot.

-Regardless of how the Falcons do this year, I am still pumped for the start of the NFL season. The first preseason game is tonight. You can catch the Saints and Steelers tonight at 8 eastern, only on the NFL Network.

Not All That

-Brady Quinn is still holding out from the Cleveland Browns training camp. To me, this is rediculous. The reason for his holdout is that Quinn believes he should be paid as a top 10 pick, even though he was selected 23rd in the NFL Draft. This is clearly a case of a player believing his own hype. If you know football and you have actually watched this guy play, you will see that he is really not that great. Yeah, he has got the prototypical NFL size and arm strength, but he is not very accurate and doesn't always make good decisions. The only reason he got all the press and accolades heaped upon him was because he was the quarterback for Notre Dame. If Brady Quinn had attended San Jose State, he would have been a 4th round draft pick with little to no fanfare. I'll put it in writing, Brady Quinn will never make a Pro Bowl in the NFL.

-Is Barry Bonds ever going to break Hank Aaron's record? It is seriously feeling like he is going to be stuck on 754 for a long time. Karma.

Don't Call It A Comeback . . .

-Ok ok, I know. More than two weeks with no posts, and no explanation, I should be ashamed of myself. Trust me, the past two weeks have pretty much been a whirlwind for me. I have driven from Virginia to Kentucky and back again. Somehow, I found enough time in between to go and get married! Thanks to everyone who was there! Anyways, my life is back to normal now so expect to see blog updates daily. Thank you for your patience!

-First things first, to answer everybody's question: YES, I still believe that Mike Vick is innocent and I have still got his back. Until he is proven guilty in the court of law (not the court of public opinion!), he will be my favorite player. All I want to know is who is going to be first in line when it is time to apologize for falsely accusing this man!

-KG finally got paroled from his prison sentence with the Minnesota Timberwolves. I didn't think he was ever getting out of there. Going to a Celtics team with Ray Allen and Paul Pierce gives him a pretty good chance of making it to his first NBA finals. I expect to see KG battling against Lebron for the next few years in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

-Daunte Culpepper signed with the Raiders today. I don't understand how the Falcons management looked at Joey Harrington and said, "No, we have no use for a quarterback like Culpepper." I guess I am going to be forced to become a Harrington fan this year. Yay!

-Vince Young got into a fight with a teammate at practice today. To top things off, he through a punch at a guys helmet with his throwing hand. That is Ryan Leaf level of stupidity! Come on Vince, you already know you got the Madden curse working against you! Why push your luck like that???

-Speaking of Madden, NCAA Football 08 for XBox 360 has been out since July 16th. I'm still undefeated. You do the math, haha! Seriously though, it is one of EA Sports' best games of the past few years, hopefully Madden 08 will follow suit in a couple weeks. As always, the only two teams I play with are the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Atlanta Falcons. My XBox Live gamertag is YGZ Motownstomp for anyone interested.
